Aquarion, Boxset One, Podcast

Posted by: Rachel In: Podcasts

Finally! David and I, the founding members of The Anime Blog, have finally gotten together to record a podcast. The two of us have been watching anime together for over ten years and have both developed strong, differing opinions on the matter.

From now on, David is going to have his say in complete series reviews. Since we rarely agree on what makes anime good, bad or ugly, this will be a great opportunity for us to air our contrasting opinions. Aquarion, Boxset One, is The Anime Blog’s first ever Podcast Review and we hope all our readers will listen in what both David and I have to say about the first half of this series!

Podcast Plot Summary

12,000 years ago, Shadow Angels threatened humanity but were successfully opposed by one of their own, Apollonius aka, Solar Wing, and his human lover, Celiane. Now, in humanity’s future, the Shadow Angel menace has returned and is threatening the human race with total extinction. However, it is rumored that Apollonious and Celiane have also returned, reincarnated in mortal form.

A group called Deava has unearthed three combining mechs/ fighter jets called vectors. These vectors are piloted by gifted youngster known as Element Users. Only Element Users can pilot the vectors which can combine to form the powerful mech Aquarion, the only thing powerful enough to stop the Shadow Angels!

I’ve went to the site of Aquarion, and seen the trailors, and to me it looks like another version of Neon Genesis Evangelion. If you have seen the thirteen episodes, are they similar to Evangelion, or no, would you reccommend the show, or no?

Sayian Prince 183 - The podcast review covers the first 13 episodes of Aquarion. I recommend checking out the series, but don’t expect it to be an Eva copy - it’s s more of a ‘combiner-mech’ show. Rachel and I also discuss the Eva similarities in the podcast. I highly encourage you to check it out! :)

@Sayian Prince 183. Our podcast pretty much states my feelings of how this series is a bubblegum version of Eva. I don’t know if I’d recommend the show if you don’t like shallow, pretty anime, which this is. It’s attractive though, and mildly entertaining. I wouldn’t buy it, however. Rent or borrow it first is my advice. I personally wouldn’t sink $60 into this boxset.

  • Ultrakid: Maybe Tatsuya Fujiwara and Erika Toda didn't look like there anime counterparts but I thought they were good and the director is actually pretty popul
  • Caitlin: This series was one of the funniest I've seen in a long time and I plan on getting it after the release it in both parts.
  • Caitlin: I've had rice with chestnuts and man, that thing sticks like peanut butter! I imagine that 3 dry, rough textures would send me running for some water
